STONEHEART.

STONEHEART.

// THE WORK

Cellini's Perseus is read as triumph. STONEHEART reads it as tragedy. The hero stands over the monster, but the monster is a woman whose face turned people to stone not out of malice. What was done to her was unbearable to witness.

The central figure is Medusa, rendered in flat black and white. Her features are obscured by a smiling mask in Luminous Yellow — the same yellow used on shipping crates and hazard signs. The mask is not protection. It is performance. Inscribed in the background in hand-cut stencil: TO NA GINEIS TERAS EINAI MIA TRAGOIDIA — To become a monster is a tragedy.

The Antiquity series begins here. Classical subjects. Contemporary damage.

// MATERIALS

Hand-contoured timber substrate. The background is built from reclaimed street paste-ups, aerosol layers and hand-cut graffiti stencils. The yellow is Luminous industrial pigment. The figure is Liquitex over the top. The industrial hazard yellow — typically reserved for shipping and safety warnings — is repurposed to signify the fragility of the psyche. The substrate is a reinforced architectural panel, hand-worked with heavy-duty stencils and textured layers referencing HWC (Handle With Care) shipping protocols. Float-mounted on a bespoke black timber frame, signed and dated on the verso.
